Recommended for ages five and up, Ultimate Bumblebee is one of the most fully featured action figures you'll find. Initially, Ultimate Bumblebee appears as a sleek 2010 Camaro. With its vivid yellow finish and racing stripes, Ultimate Bumblebee's car form is as detailed and well built as any model car and would be a perfect addition to a cabinet or dresser top. The car is able to roll freely on carpet and hard surfaces alike. Like all Transformers, there is more to Ultimate Bumblebee's Camaro form than meets the eye. When it is time for him to come out of disguise and confront his enemies, he can transform into a massive, powerful robot. Equipped with a firing plasma cannon, he is prepared to defend your local neighborhood from Decepticon attacks. With a few adjustments, you can transform Ultimate Bumblebee seamlessly between robot and vehicle mode. Serious collectors may have some concerns about the figure. His articulation leaves something to be desired -- some of his joints feel a bit stiff, and pickier collectors might find him somewhat limited in his movement. The figure's robot-to-car conversion is also fairly difficult to perform, taking up to 30 minutes. Younger children might not be able to transform Bumblebee on their own. Ultimate Bumblebee features an advanced animatronic design, allowing him to move and animate himself when in robot mode. With the touch of a button, he'll burst into motion. His head moves from side to side, and his arms and wings both move up and down. He can even aim his plasma cannon and fire off his missile. In addition to his animatronics and motion, Ultimate Bumblebee can also make a variety of sounds. I've been collecting Transformers toys for more than three years now, reliving my childhood dreams. I bought two of these (as I always double up on my collection) as I would like to open one up and play with it while the other one stays mint in the box. I am one of those collectors that doubles up on each toy and keeps them all in mint box condition with only a few second pair I open so I can sometimes enjoy the toys once in a while. Okay, enough about myself, now let's talk about this toy.
I just received two of these this morning from Amazon.com. I waited for the price to go down to $49.99 and it did! I remember this was almost a hundred bucks when it first came out. I own the first Ultimate Bumblebee and from what I can tell, the only additions/enhancements to the second one compared to the first is the add-on of the battle helmet, new sound effects and of course, the new 2010 Camaro molding hood and front. Other than that, it is almost similar. But I still do recommend on getting this toy as, just like its predecessor, it is huge, complex and durable. As a collector, I base my review as an adult collector and not as user/player of the item. It looks good on my top bookcase in its mint box condition. I will open the second this weekend and will have a true comparison between the first UB. Regardless of its difference, I still like this toy. For me, the more complex, durable, heavy and bigger the toy is, the better. IMO, it shows that these kinds of toys are for adults and serious collectors like myself.

Before purchasing this toy, I did quite a bit of research on amazon and on some external sites also. My son (6 yrs old) really loves cars and was very specific in what he wanted for christmas. Based on the reviews I wouldn't have bought this, however i am happy I did and so is he. I would say the instructions is the only downside to this toy and the frustration could drive up the wall. Though I figured it out the first them around with a little patience and I am teaching my son how to transform it on his own. He has even figured out the little warning sound, like when its not connected properly, it will sound like a car trying to start...which I think i was really funny. Overall, he enjoys it he couldn't put it down...Though I must warn it is a bit complicated for your kids but my son always loves a challenge.

What a great toy. Now my boys 6 and 8 cannot quite get the hang of transforming it so I have to do it. I had great satisfaction in getting the final piece snapped in and watching the boys roll him around on the floor. I found it much easier to transform him on my own without the instructions. Just study the robot for a little while. Look at the car body parts and imagine where they properly go. The only tricky part is the rear wheels you have to pull and twist them around, they are spring loaded. This toy does make you think while you move the parts around and picture the proper locations which is why I gave it 4 stars for educational value. He makes fun sounds both in robot form and car form. I am glad I bought this toy, got it during a lightning round but it is sturdy and well worth the full price.

My son got 21 different Transformers for Christmas and this was one of the easier ones to transform. My son is only 6, so my husband and I have been transforming them for him until he can learn how to do it himself. We have never transformed Transformers before, and I was able to easily transform this Ultimate Bumblebee in about a half an hour the first time. It is MUCH sturdier than any of the other other Transformers he got (which were all level 3 & 4) and the instructions were very easy to understand for me. I gave up on a lot of the other Transformers and had my husband figure them out. The sounds and lights are AWESOME compared to the sounds the other Transformers make. I am used to buying toys that don't break like Step 2 and Little Tikes, so I was a little skeptical of buying Transformers. I think this toy will outlast all of the other Transformers we bought.
