I own the entire Tag Junior library. Check out my ratings before buying books! (I wish I had researched before buying them all!)
Each left-and-right page spread features a Cars-themed scene that contains several different versions of the current shape (for example, "circle" page has a Mater scene where the sun, his tires, a street sign, and a shop sign are all circles). Shapes included are: triangle, square, circle, diamond, rectangle, oval, and star.
Given that my son is a bit advanced for some of the Tag Junior books, I sat down with my 15-month-old and let her explore with it. She has already mastered how it works, and a "shapes" book like this one is just the right start for her age. It is also appropriate for my 3-year-old in that he can search for shapes within the picture (in I Spy fashion) and not simply be taught what a circle or square is. Overall, I feel like this book is a good value because it actually will get use out of pretty wide age/ability range, though for us, not quite how LeapFrog has judged it (2-4).
Awesome learning system February 7, 2010 Jennifer Webber (Lomita, CA United States) The Tag Junior System is awesome and this book is great for shapes and colors. If your child is familiar with the movie, each page has a character that says multiple things based on the objects you see. My 2-1/2 year old loves this and is starting to learn so much faster! It is especially great that they have these books in characters he recognizes. I recommend the whole series for anyone with a 2 to 3 year-old.
My two year old grandson loves this. January 9, 2010 J. Ragan (Olathe, KS) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
LeapFrog Jr. Books are great. Hours of entertainment. At first they have a tendency to press too hard, but once they are instructed how to use it, it's a great learning tool.
not the most entertaining one June 5, 2010 Titania (Oklahoma City, OK) my two year old doesn't even want to read this. my four year old will for a few mintues, but that's it. I don't know. Maybe they just don't like the movie "cars" that much or something, but they just don't get entertained by this book.

This was purchased as a Christmas gift and has not been given yet. I bought it for a grandson who lives abroad and is being brought up bilingual. As a teacher I thought this might be a good way for him to hear spoken English on a daily basis. Since I have not given it to him yet I don't know what his reaction will be. I do know that I was pleased with the ease of set up . I hope, in reality, this toy lives up to my expectations.
